Expense Controller
Job Description:
Industry-leading and rapidly growing FinTech/alternative investment management firm located in lower Fairfield County, CT, is hiring an Expense Controller/AVP.

The Assistant Vice President, Corporate Expense Controller position will involve accounting and reporting on the company`s expenses. It will include responsibilities for month-end closing processes, accounts payable, finance operations, balance sheet control, and ongoing ad hoc projects. This role will report directly to the Corporate Controller.
Some Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Expense Management and Reporting
- Assist the Corporate Controller with the maintenance of all financial records and accounting files, including the continuous improvement of existing workpapers
- Review balance sheet reconciliations
- Oversee cash reconciliations and review of cash inflows and outflows between the company`s bank accounts and general ledger
- Assist in managing the company`s operating expense base
- Interact with FP&A and department heads for expense reporting and tracking of budget versus actuals to forecasts and providing month-over-month variance analysis.
- Identify and remediate process gaps and implement effective internal controls
- Assist with completing special projects as needed, such as system implementations
Requirements:
- BS/BA in Accounting
- 6-10 years of corporate accounting/audit experience within the financial services industry
- Knowledge of GAAP reporting
- Familiar with Oracle NetSuite and/or General Ledger systems (i.e., PeopleSoft, Axiom)
- Experience with Coupa or similar A/P system preferred
- Fund accounting experience a plus
- CPA license (achieved or actively pursuing) preferred but not required
- Proficient with Excel and PowerPoint; able to manage large datasets
