Assembly Floor Manager & Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description:

Our client, a manufacturing company located in Ansonia, CT, is currently seeking an Assembly Floor Manager/Manufacturing Engineer. The primary responsibilities for this role notably include supervising and overseeing the assembly of new machines in addition to the repairs of rebuild equipment in accordance with engineering standards.
Responsibilities:

  • Directly – and indirectly – supervise and oversee union personnel
  • Review production schedules and estimate worker hour requirements for completion of job assignments
  • Plan job assignments for employees and schedule daily duties according to workload
  • Interpret company policies for the workers in addition to always enforcing safety regulations
  • Interpret specifications, drawings and job orders for workers while assigning specific duties
  • Establish or adjust work-related procedures in order to meet production schedules while utilizing employees from other departments as needed
  • Recommend measures to motivate employees, improve production methods, equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department or personnel, etc.
  • Suggest improvements for investment to management
  • Maintain time and production records
  • Estimate and maintain adequate supply of department material while verifying material is correct upon receipt
  • Report machine and equipment malfunctions to maintenance personnel
  • Initiate or take corrective action as necessary when drawings and/or material does not meet company or customer standards
  • Obtain or prepare necessary engineering drawings and list sheets to enable machines and parts to be properly assembled, inspected and evaluated
  • Research previous manufacturing records and drawings
  • Collect all critical inspection information and prepare final inspection reports for all machinery based on personal inspection or additional inspections that are performed
  • Keep detailed records of all repairs and modifications made to machinery and file such information under the appropriate sales and serial number
  • Develop and implement operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate any issues that may arise
    Investigate product or procedural discrepancies in all manufacturing areas and recommend and/or implement solutions
  • Create instructions for assemblies as needed

Requirements:

  • Certificate from college or technical school required, preferably highlighted by an industrial or engineering degree
  • 5 - 10 years of related work experience and/or training
  • Must have strong knowledge of heavy machinery processes and related safety procedures
  • Experience in management of union personnel a must
  • Proficient knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, production scheduling, etc. required
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering-related drawings (i.e. blueprints) required
