Director of Housewide Education
Job Description:
A well-established nursing and senior care services facility in upper Fairfield County is seeking a Director of Housewide Education to join their team as a valued member. The Director of Housewide Education directs and designs curriculum to train and update skills and knowledge of nursing staff. Directs and organizes nurse educators to meet the educational needs of the nursing staff. Evaluates the department’s performance and ensures that all federal and state regulatory requirements are met. In collaboration with the Director of Nursing, participates in the development of Standards for Professional Nursing Practice and continual quality improvement. Establishes and promotes policies and procedures that promote quality patient care.
Essential Responsibilities include:
1. Develops department goals and objectives. Develops training programs to meet the organization's training and regulatory needs. Consults with all departments regarding their educational needs.
2. Coordinates hospital-operated schools and allied health education-affiliated programs.
3. Maintains training records and competency skills and competency programs.
4. Coordinates classroom/meeting room facilities and instructional aids.
5. Participates in various committees and meetings as required. Attends services in professional organizations as a hospital representative in educational matters.
6. Develops and maintains a database of education/training information.
7. Plans, organizes, directs, and supervises nursing and house-wide educational service/programs and formulates policies and practices. Develops community programs.
8. Develops various reports for management’s review. Develops and recommends department budget and ensures the department operates within budget.
Requirements:
Licensure RN, State of Connecticut (required)Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Master’s Degree (preferred)
Licensure RN, State of Connecticut (required)
Experience: Sufficient previous teaching/training experience in an educational or health care institution
