Job Description:

Danbury, CT-based law firm looking to hire a temporary Probate Paralegal or Legal Assistant.

Hours are Monday-Friday 9 am-5:30 pm.

Starting in January for 3 months, covering a maternity leave

5+ years’ experience in managing Estates and Trusts administration.
Capacity to handle Estates from Probate to final accounting, with Estate tax preparation.

Ability to work closely with clients and professionals. Strong communication, writing, and computer skills

Experience with Trust accounting software is a plus.

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Paralegal or Legal Assistant to join our dynamic legal team. This role involves assisting attorneys with legal research, document preparation, case management, and administrative tasks to ensure efficient and effective legal operations. Responsibilities include:
Conduct thorough legal research using platforms such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to support case development across various practice areas.
Draft, review, proofread, and edit legal documents, including contracts, pleadings, correspondence, and reports, with precision.
Manage case files and documents using document management systems such as iManage and PCLaw to ensure records are organized and accessible.
Assist in preparing for trials, hearings, and meetings through document review and compiling relevant case materials.
Support attorneys with client interviews by preparing questionnaires and summarizing interview notes accurately.
Perform administrative duties including data entry, filing, scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and handling phone inquiries with professionalism.
Support project management initiatives by coordinating tasks across legal teams to meet deadlines efficiently.
Conduct legal research as needed.
Assist with the preparation of legal briefs and memoranda that require detailed analysis and clear writing skills.

Skills
Proven paralegal experience.
Strong knowledge of legal research tools, including LexisNexis and Westlaw.
Experience with legal case management software like PCLaw or iManage.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Proficiency in document review, drafting legal documents, proofreading, transcription services, and contract preparation.
Familiarity with legal administrative processes, such as filing systems and data entry.
Effective communication skills coupled with professional phone etiquette.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
Knowledge of project management principles relevant to a fast-paced law office setting.
Strong attention to detail in proofreading and document management tasks.
