Compensation Associate

Job Description:

We’re seeking a Compensation Associate for an industry-leading (and growing!) private equity firm in Greenwich, CT, to support payroll and compensation operations in close partnership with Finance and HR. This role will own U.S. payroll processing, oversee international payroll vendors, and support compensation planning, budgeting, and analysis.

The firm is within walking distance of Greenwich Train Station and is on-site five days a week. The position will include a base salary and discretionary bonus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and process bi-weekly/monthly U.S. payroll in coordination with HR.
  • Oversee outsourced payroll functions for international offices (UK and Japan)
  • Drive improvements in payroll systems, processes, and controls
  • Calculate and track annual bonuses, special payments, severance, and deferred comp.
  • Support compensation-related budgeting and forecasting for current and future headcount.
  • Evaluate hiring scenarios and quantify compensation-related budget impact.
  • Collaborate with HR, Recruiting, and Finance to ensure compensation decisions align with budget and internal policies
  • Conduct compensation benchmarking using market surveys and internal data
  • Analyze and report on compensation trends and total rewards data to support leadership decision-making

    Requirements:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in compensation, payroll, or financial analysis
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • Proficiency in Excel; experience with HRIS systems and financial reporting tools
  • Understanding of payroll processes and accounting (e.g., accruals, deferrals, liabilities)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to manage large datasets
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Collaborative mindset with strong communication skills and a focus on process improvement
