Job Description:

Our client, a fund manager who invests in distressed and deep-value opportunities through its hedge fund and a family of private equity funds, seeks to hire a Head of GP Accounting. With over a 20-year track record of success, our client continues to grow and build for the future. Currently, they are managing over $20B globally.

They seek a highly detail-oriented and discreet professional to manage accounting for the GP Entities of a $20bn+ global investment firm focused on opportunistic credit and private equity opportunities in North America and Europe. In addition to GP accounting responsibilities, this individual will oversee the complex and confidential financial affairs of the fund's friends and family.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for the full spectrum of GP accounting, including but not limited to general ledger maintenance, closing of the books, and financial audit.
  • Responsible for quarterly reporting for over ten funds and multiple co-investment vehicles.
  • Perform Quarterly Financial Statements and review postings for the investor portal.
  • Calculate the GP’s capital calls and distributions in coordination with the fund administrator / Fund Accounting team.
  • Experience with European Waterfall structures – responsible for carrying pools/calculations for 100 unique individuals.
  • Responsible for the management of complex co-investment structures and loans at the GP level
  • Serve as an expert on financial aspects of the fund to friends and family; equip key senior stakeholders and their advisors with up-to-date information regarding the value of their stake in the firm to aid decision-making regarding their other financial decisions.
  • Provide real-time investment accounting [to aid in cash flow and budgeting] for key members.
  • Coordinate with internal and external advisors on tax planning, compliance, and preparation of tax returns.
  • Participate in strategic planning and decision-making processes regarding key member and family investments and business operations.
  • Always ensure confidentiality and privacy of financial records and information.

    Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field - CPA or CFP designation is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of accounting experience, with a preference for experience with private equity GP accounting and Fund Accounting nuances.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial planning.
  • Proficient in accounting software
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact with discretion and professionalism.
