Job Description:

Large financial institution in Bridgeport, CT looking to hire a temp to perm Payroll Clerk. 3+ years of experience. UltiPro software experience is a plus. Must have very strong computer skills and Especially proficient in Excel. Full Time. Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30 am – 5 pm. Support all aspects of payroll to ensure it is processed timely and accurately on a bi-weekly basis for over 6,000 employees in multi-company and multi-state.

Responsibilities:

  • Auditing of time records to ensure all timesheets have been completed and approved
  • Process timecard adjustments
  • Enter and transmit payroll data into Ultipro Backoffice
  • Verify employee change records entered by HR
  • Process Wage Attachments
  • Answers court ordered requests regarding wage attachment
  • Process deduction changes
  • Processes final check payment calculations based on state laws
  • Answers all telephone calls and emails questions related to all aspects of paychecks including deductions, taxes and earnings
  • Print and distribute live paychecks after payroll close
  • Process funding for different vendors and agencies
  • Process terminations
  • Maintains PTO accruals
  • Researches payroll discrepancies
  • Administer the Leave of Absence
  • Completes Wage verification forms
  • Participates in special projects for the payroll team
  • Maintains payroll records and reports
  • Prepares and maintains standard and ad hoc reports and queries
  • Assists with all quarterly and year-end tax reporting functions including W-2 reporting
  • Assist with the bi-weekly QC Salary audit prior to Payroll closing
  • Performs any other clerical tasks and special projects as needed or assigned
  • Assists with internal and external audits

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of payroll related experience
  • Experience with Ultipro is a plus
  • Knowledge of state and federal wage and tax laws and overtime requirements including FLSA and DOL
  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Strong computer skills: Must be proficient in Excel (vLookUp and Pivot tables a plus), MS Office, Word, and Outlook; ability to operate standard office equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Highly organized
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Ability to learn quickly and work under pressure; self-starter
  • Must be able to work with highly sensitive information in a confidential manner
