Job Description:

Greenwich, CT based Law Firm looking to hire a temporary Legal Assistant to cover a 3 month temporary position. MUST HAVE LEGAL REAL ESTATE experience. Looking for a strong candidate with solid skills. Starting immediately.
The responsibilities of the Legal Administrative Assistant include, but are not limited to, the following:
NEW CLIENTS, MATTER NUMBERS AND FILES
Prepare all new business memorandums.
Prepare all retainer letters.
Prepare all redwelds and file folders.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
GENERAL
Insert closing date information on Real Estate Calendar.
Greet clients for respective Attorney and/or Paralegal for all meetings or closings.
Type correspondence and documents, including revisions thereto as requested by Attorney and/or Paralegal.
Organize and maintain all files in cubicle area and in the filing room.
Prepare and maintain bills for each transaction.
Obtain certified checks from Bank as required for each transaction and distribute to Attorney and/or Paralegal.
Make copies of documents as requested by Attorney and/or Paralegal.
Scan copies of fully executed documents into system as requested by Attorney and/or Paralegal.
Once a transaction has closed, assist with any and all requests received from purchaser, seller, lender, broker, etc.
RESIDENTIAL SALES
Prepare Contract and Rider in accordance with specifications given by respective Attorney.
Prepare correspondence as requested by Attorney and/or Paralegal.
Make a copy of down payment check and deposit into account upon receipt.
Obtain payoff statements at least ten (10) days prior to the scheduled Closing and give to Paralegal.
Obtain final readings/invoices from utility companies as requested by Paralegal (Must do at least 5 days prior to Closing).
Immediately after Closing, deposit sale proceeds check into account.
After proceeds check has cleared, request checks for disbursement in accordance with Closing Cost Statement and give to Paralegal.
Obtain broker commission statements and forward checks after Closing.
Disburse balance of proceeds, if applicable, to client.
Forward disbursement check and copy of invoice/documentation to appropriate party with correspondence from Paralegal, if required.
Confirm Closing Date/Time (check with Paralegal first).
Upon completion of the transaction, prepare a disc and/or closing binder of closing documents for the file and client.
RESIDENTIAL PURCHASES AND REFINANCES
Prepare correspondence as requested by Attorney and/or Paralegal.
Assist Paralegal with fulfillment of lender requirements, as requested.
Make copies and forward lender documents to lender with correspondence prepared by Paralegal.
Make copies and forward title policy(ies), owner’s affidavit, transmittal form and title premium check to title company with correspondence prepared by Paralegal.
Confirm Closing Date/Time (check with Paralegal first).
Disburse balance of proceeds, if applicable, to client (refinances).
Upon completion of the transaction, prepare a disc and/or closing binder of closing documents for the file and client.
